Divorce decrees are important documents and can serve several purposes such as supporting documents or even basis for genealogical studies. The State of Missouri provides divorce decree documents, which a person can request, from the Circuit Clerk of the County where the divorce was granted. One can also request for a copy from the Bureau of Vital Records by writing a request. Payment for the request varies however; one can pay through either money order or check. In some cases, a county office may also accept cash or credit card payment.
Although the Vital Records Office does provide such documents, the data that the Office maintains starts from 1948 up to the present. Older records are only available from the Circuit Clerk court which some might find this a bother especially if they have work to do and visiting the Clerk court is not an option.
